ACE Logistics, a provider of international freight forwarding, freight forwarding and logistics services, is expanding its basket of services by offering domestic freight forwarding in Lithuania to business customers from March.
“After many years of experience in international freight transport and taking into account the needs of our business customers, we decided that the time was right to take on domestic freight transport. We see a great potential for this,” comments Ignas Puluikis, Managing Director of ACE Logistics.
According to him, freight transport in Lithuania is a service that is needed by many companies, not only by traders transporting goods from Europe or China – a lot of freight is transported within the borders of the country, and companies involved in international freight transport have often received inquiries about the possibilities of such a service.
“We continue to focus on medium-sized freights: from 30 kg to several tonnes. For domestic transport, we are already increasing the number of vehicles and staff, and we are working together with partners on some requests. The company’s plans include a new freight warehouse in Kaunas next year,” says I. Puluikis.
Currently, all cargo is distributed at ACE Logistics’ central terminal in Vilnius. The new service will be available to companies that require domestic freight transport with a loading and delivery address in Lithuania.
Staying optimistic
According to I. Puluikis, although the past years have been challenging for the international freight market and the slowing economy has had an impact on freight volumes, carriers are optimistic.
“We expect the freight market to pick up in the second half of the year and we expect a full recovery in 2024. However, the trends in the freight market are also quite positive at the moment, with a reduction in the logistical bottlenecks caused by the pandemic, while sea freight costs, which had been rising at the same time, are almost at their pre-pandemic levels. Although the cost of freight services is still closely linked to rising fuel prices, carriers are finding ways to keep costs under control,” he said.
The war in Ukraine, started by Russia, has not affected all freight carriers either, with freight shipments to Belarus or Russia being replaced by increased flows to other countries.
